Meghan Markle, la ex actriz estadounidense, y duquesa de Sussex, quien disfruta de un embarazo de seis meses, visitó este miércoles a los voluntarios y al personal de Mayhew, un refugio destinado al rescate de animales, ubicado en Londres.

Today, the Duchess of Sussex made her first official visit to her patronage Mayhew to meet with staff, volunteers, beneficiaries and animals! Kensington Palace describes the Mayhew as: “Established in 1886 and entirely funded by public donations Mayhew is an animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats and people in communities both in London and internationally. Mayhew looks for innovative ways to reduce the number of animals in need through pro-active community and educational initiatives and preventative veterinary care. “This includes working with homelessness charities across London to ensure people and their dogs can be kept together; running a Pet Refuge programme to provide shelter and care for the pets of people in crisis for short periods of time; and educating young people about animal welfare and the importance of responsible pet ownership. Internationally, Mayhew works with governments, local communities and charitable groups in Afghanistan, Georgia, Russia and India to help improve animal welfare.” Meghan discovered the charity last autumn, and following two private visits, she chose Mayhew as one of her first patronages. Upon arrival, Meghan met with staff members when one lady jokingly told her “You’re a fat lady now” to which Meghan laughingly jocked “I’ll take it”. The Duchess also met with Megan's favorite animals: dogs! People expanded by saying: “Meghan – who was ‘very natural with the dogs, as one needs to be,’ according to CEO Caroline Yates – was very taken with one of the dogs: a Jack Russell Terrier named Minnie that she held in her arms. ‘She asked about Minnie’s story and what she is like and whether she up for adoption – and she is!’ Yates said “Oh, she’s shivering,’ Meghan said as she bent down to pick up the pup and give her a cuddle. ‘Hopefully she’s be adopted today, when everyone sees her.”
