The Weeknd fue el artista más premiado en los Billboard Music Awards 2021

Con la victoria en diez categorías, The Weeknd resultó el artista más premiado de los Billboard Music Awards 2021 (BBMA), celebrados este domingo en el Microsoft Theatre de Los Ángeles, California.

El músico canadiense mereció los trofeos en las categorías Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, Top R&B Album, Top Hot 100 Song Presented by Rockstar, Top Radio Song y Top R&B Song.

De esta manera, se convierte, con 19 premios en total, en el quinto lugar de la lista de ganadores de todos los tiempos de los BBMA. Lo anteceden Drake (29), Taylor Swift (25), Justin Bieber (21) y Garth Brooks (20).

Pop Smoke, fallecido en febrero de 2020, ganó cinco premios entre ellos el Top Billboard 200 Album por Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon. Es el primer artista en recibir ese premio de manera póstuma.

BTS ganó cuatro premios. El grupo ya acumula nueve trofeos en los BBMA y por quinto año consecutivo fue seleccionado como Top Social Artist, lo cual demuestra la fortaleza de su club de fans.

Por su parte, Bad Bunny ganó cuatro premios: Top Latin Artist, Top Latin Male Artist, Top Latin Album y Top Latin Song. Por segunda vez El conejo malo es seleccionado como el Mejor Artista Latino.

“Así es el cuarto músico en ganar premios consecutivos en esa categoría desde que se reanudaron los BBMA en 2011. Los tres primeros fueron Shakira, Romeo Santos y Ozuna”, según Billboard.
